I'm indebted to one of my lovely friends Abroad for these pearls of wisdom. I'm never sure whether people want to be acknowledged by name in these pages, and after all, I cling to my own negligee of anonymity as desperately as any other Dulwich mummy cleaves to an unmaxed-out credit card - but you know who you are, and thank you xx
It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
One human hair can support 3 kg (6 lb).
The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb.
Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.

Women blink twice as often as men.
The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.

Women reading this will be finished now. Men who read this are probably still busy checking their thumbs.

Ooh DD its not just the men , I admit to staring with furrowed brow at my own thumb thinking " I wonder where the measuring starts from ? " . Glad to see I havent quite lost interest in all that though ....
Your blog is an absolute tonic, I love it.
GG
Yep, I was checking my thumb too!!!
Very very funny. Am just off to check the length of Husband's thumb...
MCC, yes, I admit I too have been looking at my thumbs a little quizzically of late ...so that's where the expression 'rule of thumb' comes from!
Thank you, GG, what a lovely thing to say! And gorgeous to be a tonic, one with plenty of gin in I hope!
Hi Rosiero, we all were! I think they must start measuring from where the thumb joins the hand, otherwise a girl could get quite unrealistic expectations ....
Good luck with that, dear Potty!
Daling DD, how on earth do they find out these things? Bizarre!
HAHAHA - that's just cheered up my morning. I apologise now to all my male friends who will be wondering why I want to measure their thumbs LOL :-D
So...what about the length of a woman's thumb, then?
So I guess if a man is all fingers and thumbs he's either very well endowed or an out and out liar!!??
Thanks for your comment on the Easy Living site. I've been following yours on and off for ages. Only periods of off as I'm meant to be writing!!!! But always really like it. But my other blog, on blogspot is covered in Arabic writing which I can't seem to get rid off, partly because I can't now read any of the instructions. Great about your book too. I have one coming out on May 7th! Its called The Seven Year Itch.
Lovely of you to stop by, Kate, I love your Easy Living blog (and am not envious at all, no, no, not much!) and very exciting about your book, I will step down to Waterstones in May and snap it up. Tried your other blog but think it has exploded, technology can be so trying. How is yr third book going? My no. 2 is vvvv slow ...
CanCan and Nidminx, I can't take you two anywhere!!!! And let's not even talk about men who still such their thumbs .....
Dearest Rosiescribble, I fear they must spend much too much time studying their own thumbs, v worrying ....Claire, thank you for thinking of me, sounds very intriguing, I'll come and have a peek!
Guilty of looking at my thumb too!
Chairman Bill, you seem to be an honest man! Ooooh, I'm feeling a bit faint ....
